The Climate Innovation District provides a creative and inspiring backdrop for the Circ_it™ regen hackers.
Layer.studio hosted a successful Circ_it™ workshop session this week at the Climate Innovation District! It was great to facilitate such an energised and enthused group of UK property specialists, who using the Circ_it™ regen hack tool, captured fresh thinking on how to deliver thriving places.
There were some really useful and pertinent themes recognised by the expert team during this year’s Circ_it™ regeneration hack. One of the standout insights was the call to act early and iterate – championing a mindset that prioritises doing over delaying, with space to adapt along the way.
Another key takeaway was the value of empowered facilitation, described as ‘lifting the quiet and suppressing the noise’ – enabling hidden voices to rise while removing unhelpful distractions. The principle of “rough consensus” also emerged, encouraging progress through shared direction rather than perfect agreement. Crucially, the group reflected on the power of people as bridges – how local advocates, integrated from start to finish, help sustain momentum and embed relevance throughout regeneration processes. And while funding is always a challenge, the team explored the untapped potential of philanthropy as a tool for unlocking place-based investment, especially when aligned with community need rather than just market demand.
