Appointment of Layer Studio for Totally Stockport new Greening Masterplan for the BID Boundary In Stockport town centre
Totally Stockport - the Business Improvement District (BID) for Stockport town centre - is excited to announce it has appointed Layer Studio to develop a BID Area Greening Masterplan. The project sets out to explore how nature, ecology and biodiversity can be woven into the fabric of the town - reimagining public spaces for people, place and planet.
Greening is a key part of Totally Stockport’s business plan. This new Masterplan is a Totally Stockport-funded initiative and will be for the benefit of BID businesses and town centre users - helping create a more vibrant, welcoming and climate-ready town. Alongside an overarching strategy, the plan will include proposals for both immediate high-impact greening interventions and longer-term transformation concepts. The new plan will enhance and provide additional greening options in the BID Boundary and build on work from SMBC and MDC.

Appointed to lead the work is locally based Landscape + Urbanism practice Layer.studio, whose team have worked on greening strategies across the UK – including Birmingham’s award-winning ‘Going Green’ initiative, Manchester’s ‘Streets for All’ corridors, and nature-led regeneration frameworks in Bury and Rochdale. They’ll be working closely with the BID, local stakeholders and the community over the coming months.
