Layer.studio host a creative (net)workshop
Building Connections: A Day of Creativity, Terrazzo, and Sustainable Design
Recently, our early careers team—Eddie, Maisie, and Mauro—hosted a unique "(net)workshop" designed to move beyond the traditional business card exchange. The goal? To create a fun, relaxed space for like-minded professionals to connect while getting hands-on with the materials that define our commitment to sustainability.
The afternoon kicked off with an overview of our recent work at layer.studio. We shared insights into our design process and how we prioritise nature-led solutions and climate resilience across our projects. But rather than just talking about sustainability, we wanted to put it into practice.
We headed to GRIT Studios in Manchester city centre for a bespoke Terrazzo workshop. The session was a deep dive into the "reuse" element of our core values. Using recycled bricks, tiles, aggregates, and various "found objects," each attendee set to work crafting their own unique tile.
It was a fantastic opportunity to see our friends and colleagues from across the industry embrace the messiness of creation, resulting in a series of one-of-a-kind terrazzo tiles that proved sustainability and aesthetics go hand-in-hand.
A huge thank you to everyone who joined us and to GRIT Studios for providing the perfect backdrop for our first (net)workshop. We’re already looking forward to the next one!
