Chillizens Play Pocket Shortlisted for Landscape Institute Award 2026

Small space, big impact: Our co-designed pocket park is recognised for excellence in community collaboration.

We are absolutely thrilled to announce that Layer.studio’s work on the Chillizens Play Pocket has been selected as a finalist for the Landscape Institute's ‘Excellence in Collaboration, Engagement and Influence’ award for 2026.

Following its recent success taking home a 2026 Pineapple Award in the Child-Friendly Place category, this latest recognition shines a light on what truly makes the project special: the people behind it.

Beyond the physical design, the true success lies in the ongoing stewardship and the social value it brings. It has become a safer, cleaner, and healthier gateway where children can meet, perch, and relax before and after school. By improving the walking and cycling experience, it encourages active travel while the new trees and shrubs help filter the air and soften the noise of the adjacent high street.  

Being recognised by the Landscape Institute for 'Excellence in Collaboration, Engagement and Influence' is a massive honour. It validates our core philosophy at Layer.studio: that giving local children a definitive voice can turn a small, overlooked corner into a powerful catalyst for neighbourhood pride.
